Theatre troupe Open Space Theatre staged 12 Angry Men at the Selim Al Deen Muktamancho of Jahangirnagar University on Saturday.
The play was staged as part of a ten-day inter-university theatre festival, which was organised by Jahangirnagar Theatre on the occasion of its 38th founding anniversary.
The courtroom drama, 12 Angry Men, based on at teleplay with the same titled written by American screenwriter Reginald Rose, describes the story of a jury consisting of 12 men, deliberating the case of an 18-year-old boy from a slum, on trial for allegedly stabbing his father to death. If there is any reasonable doubt they are to return a verdict of not guilty. If found guilty the boy will receive a mandatory death sentence.
The play has been translated and dramatised by M Arifur Rahman.
Kazi Arifur Rahman, ASM Mosabbir Tanim, Mahdi Hossain, Syed Azaz Ahmed, Md Muanna Zilan, Walid Adnan, Raihan Ahmed Dip, Shimanto Haque, Shariful M Tarik, Fairooz Alom, Mohammed Nazmul Hossain, Baizid Noor and others played different characters in the play.
