The condition of the right eye of Ehsan Rafiq, a second year student of disaster management and science department of Dhaka University, who was roughed up by Chhatra League activists on Tuesday night, deteriorated, leaving him now unable to see with the eye.
Victim’s father, Rofiqul Islam, a journalist, said that the cornea and orbit of Ehsan’s right eye was grievously injured as he was punched indiscriminately.
Fate of Ehsan’s eye, now staying in his relative’s house at Mirpur, would be known today as the doctors would assess the eye’s latest condition, Rofiqul Islam told New Age on Friday.
The disheartened father also lamented that no one from the university administration contacted them and his son might miss a semester which would affect his academic career.
Meanwhile, the Salimullah Muslim Hall authorities on Wednesday night formed a three-member probe body, headed by the hall’s house tutor Professor Sabbir Ahmed, to investigate the incident and it was asked to submit the report within seven working days.
Bangladesh Chhatra League also suspended three of their activists for their alleged involvement in the incident, said a press release.
Earlier on Tuesday night, Chhatra League activists of Salimullah Muslim hall beat up Ehsan Rafiq allegedly for demanding back his calculator.
