11 crude bombs, five petrol bombs recovered from IU hall of residence

Police recovered 11 crude bombs, five petrol bombs and a machete from Saddam Hossain Hall of Islamic University in Kushtia on Sunday night.

IU police officer-in-charge Raton Sheikh told New Age that a joint team of IU and Kushtia sadar police, led by the district police superintendent, Mehedi Hasan, launched a drive at the hall of residence around 8:00pm.

They raided different rooms till 10:00pm and recovered those, he added.

IU proctor professor M Mahbubar Rahman, assistant proctor Nasim Jaman, and the hall provost, professor M Ashrarul Alam, were present during the raid.

Additional police were deployed around the hall area to avert any unwanted situation, said the proctor.
