The police on Monday foiled a march of Left Democratic Alliance towards the prime minister’s office protesting at the ‘farcical general election held on December 30 in 2018’.

More than 30 activists including Ganosamhati Andolan chief coordinator Zonayed Saki was wounded in the police attack while the police picked up five activists.

The LDA, a combine of eight left leaning political parties, observed the day as ‘black day’ and held countrywide protest programmes marking the day.

As per the schedule of the central programme, LDA held a protest rally in front of Jatiya Press Club and then started their march towards the PMO.

The police stopped the protesters near Matshya Bhaban making fence barricade and charged baton to disburse the gathering.

Ganosamhati chief coordinator Zonayed Saki and 29 others activist of different left political parties were wounded in the clash and later, the police picked up five activists.

Some of the injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and other nearby hospitals, CPB central leader Joly Talukder told New Age.
