A fresh case was filed on Thursday night against Sylhet additional district magistrate, one of his subordinate magistrates and several employees of the district administration in the incident of attacking Anti-Corruption Commission officials.
ACC divisional deputy director Shirin Parvin filed the case with Kotwali police station after chief metropolitan magistrate in Sylhet, Saifuzzaman Hiro, passed a suo moto rule in this regard.
Kotwali police officer-in-charge Sohel Ahmad confirmed New Age of the news of filing the case by the ACC official.
The ACC staff were allegedly attacked at the district administration office on February 9 when they arrested Azizur Rahman, a clerk of district administration, on charge of taking Tk 20,000 in bribe.
The ACC divisional deputy director recorded a general diary with the police station in that evening and its sub-assistant director Wahid Manzur Sohag filed a case in this regard on February 14 accusing only Azizur, the police officer said.
He said the ACC officials alleged that the district administration staff led by additional district magistrate Abu Shafayat Md Shahedul Islam and a magistrate had attacked them and snatched the arrested Azizur from them after injuring a constable of the ACC office.
The ACC officer in his GD claimed that Azizur had taken Tk 20,000 from a resident of the city’s Bagbari to relocate a petrol pump in the area.
