A discussion on Russian literature was held at AR Mollik Lecture Auditorium of Dhaka University on Friday.
The event was organised by Bangladesh Progressive Writers Association.
Chaired by Golam Kibria Pinu, president of the association, the function was also addressed by writer Monjurul Huq and Professor Haider Ali Khan, among others.
Monjurul Huq said Russian writers knew that the meaning of life was rooted in life itself, so without losing sight of a great spiritual goal, they grappled with the realities around them.
For this reason, Russian literature presents a wonderful union of idealism and realism, he observed.
He further said that Russian writers were capable of persuading people that there was such a thing as human nature, that something about the human heart and soul transcended the distinctions of nationality, social class
Later a discussion on ‘Globalising Economy and Marxism’ by Professor Haider Ali Khan also held.
