At least five people were killed in separate road accidents in the capital and Bogra on Friday.
A housewife was killed as she fell from a running motorcycle in the capital’s Shanir Akhra at Jatrabari on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Alo Begum, 20, wife of Mohammad Rony, of Gendaria.
Rony said he was riding the motorcycle along with Alo but suddenly she fell from the running bike on the road at Shanir Akhra at about 4:30pm.
Rony took her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where she succumbed to her injures.
At least three people, including a teenager, were killed and 10 others injured on Friday afternoon in separate road accidents in Garidaha area of Sherpur and Matidali area in Bogra, reports New Age correspondent in the district.
Among the deceased, two were identified as Dulal Mia, 40, son of Afzal Hossain, of Bejhar village in Naogaon and Abu Musa, 14, son of late Abdul Bari, of Sultanpara in Bogra.
The identity of another victim aged around 30 could not be known immediately.
Sub-inspector Robiul Islam of Phulbari police outpost said driver of a bus lost control over the steering as one of its wheels suddenly blasted around 1:15pm in Garidaha area.
At one stage, the bus collided head-on with a Bogra-bound truck, killing Dulal on the spot and injuring 11 others, he said.
The injured were rushed to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where duty doctors declared the unidentified driver of the truck dead.
Meanwhile, another road mishap occurred around 1:00pm when a Dhaka-bound truck crashed Musa while he was riding a bicycle near Matidhali intersection, killing him on the spot.
A physically challenged man was killed in a road accident near Kawla bus stand area on the airport road in Dhaka early Friday, BSS reported.
The deceased was identified as M Makbul Hossen, 44, son of late Afsar Munshi, of Muksedpur upazila under Gopalganj district.
M Makbul Hossen, a physically challenged, was knocked down by a motor vehicle and was seriously injured while he was trying to crossing the road in Kawla bus stand area on the airport road around 1:30am on Thursday midnight, said the airport police M Nur-e Azam Mia.
The local people rushed him to the Kurmitola General Hospital where the duty doctors declared him dead, said the official.
