The Anti-Corruption Commission on Thursday caught a Dhaka South City Corporation tax official red-handed while taking bribe in Dhaka.
A 10-member team of the commission, led by its director Nasim Anwar, arrested city corporation deputy tax officer Tofazzal Hossain Jumadder at Circular Road in Dhaka at about 5:00pm, commission’s public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee said.
He said that Tofazzal demands Tk 20,000 in bribes from some Mustafa Ali for readjusting his holding tax as it was increased mistakenly.
Mustafa filed a complaint with the commission that later organised a trap, said the official.
He said that the commission filed a case against Tofazzal.
