Bangladesh Premier League champions Bashundhara Kings have been placed in South Zone Group E of the 2020 AFC Cup which is scheduled to begin with preliminary stage play-off on January 22 next year.
The group seeding ceremony was held at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Tuesday.
Kings will play against TC Sports of Maldives and one of the two Indian clubs Chennai City FC or FC Goa and South Asia Zone play-off winners in their fixture.
A total 48 Asian clubs split into five groups will compete in the regional football event.
BPL runners-up and Federation Cup champions Abahani Limited will play in the play-off round 2 against Maziya Sports and Recreation Club of Maldives on February 5 and 12.
Five teams – Abahani, Bengaluru FC (India) Maziya S &RC, Paro FC (Bhutan) and Defenders FC (Sri Lanka) - will compete in the Zonal play-off round -1 and 2 to confirm the only spot in the four-team group. The winners of the play-offs will move into the four team group.
