Writer Mashiul Alam and translator Shabnam Nadiya were declared joint winners of the end-of-year short story competition of Colombo-based Himal Southasian, titled ‘Himal Short Story Competition 2019’, on Tuesday.
They won the contest for the short story ‘Milk’, the English translation of Mashiul Alam’s work ‘Dudh’, which was translated by Shabnam Nadiya.
The winners will receive prize money of $ 500, split equally between writer and translator, and the story will be published at the launch of Himal’s new website in the new-year.
