The Bangladesh Bank will release a new Tk 50 note on December 15 as the central bank has brought in some distinctive features to the bank note.
The new note will be released as there is similarity in colour between the existing Tk 10 and Tk 50 notes, said a BB press release issued on Tuesday.
The central bank has already printed the new bank note, which is signed by BB governor Fazle Kabir, and the note contains the portrait of the country’s founding president, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in reddish orange colour, it said.
The note will be issued initially by the BB’s Motijheel office and later by other branches of the central bank.
However, the new note contains the same design and security features the previously issued Tk 50 note has.
The existing Tk 50 bank notes will remain valid simultaneously, the BB said.
