‘Shantir Pathe Kabita’ held at Kabita Cafe

Noted and upcoming poets recited poems promoting peace at a programme titled ‘Shantir Pathe Kabita’ held at Kabita Cafe in capital’s Kataban on Saturday.

The programme was organised by World Poetry Movement Bangladesh Chapter where eminent poet and novelist Mohammad Nurul Huda was present as the chief guest.

Coordinator of World Poetry Movement Bangladesh Chapter poet Kamruzzaman presided over the event.

Besides, poet Farid Ahmod Dulal, poet Jahangir Firoz, poet Motin Boiragi, poet Sheikh Baten, poet and filmmaker Jakir Hossein Raju, among others, attended the event, which featured discussion and solo poem recitation. Poet Jamil Jahangir hosted the programme.

‘Poems can inspire social change. They can promote peace, tolerance and harmony across the globe,’ said Mohammad Nurul Huda.

Following the discussion, where poets talked about on-going conflicts and sufferings of innocent people across the globe along with contemporary issues, two books namely ‘Shomotote Dariye’ penned by Ajra Parvin Saeed, and children’s book ‘Khorgosh Kocchop Dourer Dwitiyo Porbo’ penned by Nazmus Sayadat, were distributed among the guests.

Poets Pulok Hasan, Mamun Rashid, Nur Kamrun Nahar, Nazmus Sadat, Afroza Soma and others recited poems promoting peace and harmony at the venue. Besides, Abu Saeed Zuberi and Zahid Nur Turja rendered songs to delight the audience.
