BCL factional clash at Dhaka University over ousting outsider

At least one injured after two groups of Bangladehs Chhatra League activists locked horns at Salimullah Muslim Hall of Dhaka University over ousting an outsider.

The injured was identified as Muhammad Sujon, 30, an outsider.

Sources said Chhatra League’s hall unit vice-president Milon Khan, also hall union social service affair secretary, sheltered outsider Sujon for three years at his room and on Saturday evening hall union general secretary also a Chhatra League leader Julias Cisar with his followers tried to evict Sujon from the room which led to the clash.

Later, two groups chased each other for several times also vandalised several rooms of the hall.

Cisar alleged Milon illegally sheltered Sujon at his room where the hall suffers from acute seat crisis, even first year and second year student used to reside at the corridor.

So general students complained to him and when he tried to evict Sujon, Milon’s follower carried out attack on them, he said.

Professor Sabbir Rahman, a house tutor at the hall, said the issue was solved and they would take action after investigation.
