The tickets for the grand opening ceremony of Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier league will go on sale today, said the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Thursday.
The tickets will be available from the booths of Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium and Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Gate-1 in Mirpur from 9:30am to 6:00pm.
Fans can also purchase tickets from Westin in Gulshan-2, Fahim Music in Banani, Cafe Eden in Gulshan-2 and from several online platforms like – shohoz.com, paypoint.com.bd and gadgetbangla.com.
The price of the tickets will be Tk 1,000 for club house, Tk 2,500 for grand stands and Tk 10,000 for on ground seating.
The programme is scheduled to start at 4:30pm on December 8 with the gates of the venue opening at 2:30pm and closing at 5:30pm.
The BCB president Nazmul Hasan said they are trying to make 7,000 to 8,000 tickets available for the fans for the gala event.
‘We will give five to six thousand tickets of club house and grand stand for selling. We will put an additional one to two thousand tickets for sale. The general spectators can buy these tickets. They can buy a total of seven to eight thousand tickets,’ Nazmul told reporters at Mirpur on Thursday.
Nazmul also confirmed that three Bangladeshi channels – GTV, Maasranga TV and News 24 will telecast the opening ceremony live.
He also said that they would arrange big-screen screenings on several locations so that spectators who aren’t present at the venue could also enjoy the event.
‘We can’t give everyone the opportunity to come to the field and watch it. The demands of tickets are very high and we can only provide 10-12 thousand tickets,’ he said.
‘We will arrange big screen screenings in seven divisions. We will also telecast it at TSC, Gulshan or Banani Club and Dhanmondi Rabindra Sorobor. There are a lot of spectators in Mirpur and we will also arrange screening at City Club ground or other areas,’ he added.
Renowned India actor Salman Khan, actress Katrina Kaif, singers Sonu Nigam, Kailash Kher and Bangladeshi singers Momtaj and James are scheduled to perform in the gala event.
Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina will be present at the opening ceremony as chief guest to inaugurate the tournament.
The tournament will kick off on December 11 with Chattogram Challengers will taking on Sylhet Thunder in the opening match while Cumilla Warriors will face Rangpur Rangers in the other match of the day in Mirpur.
