Karate player Humayra Akter Antara became the first athlete to win a medal for Bangladesh in the 13th SA Games when she secured a bronze medal in women’s individual kata event on Monday.
Pakistan and Nepal won gold and silver medal in the event respectively.
Bangladesh won a total of two silver medals and seven bronze medals on the second day of the Games that got underway on Sunday in three Nepalese cities Kathmandu, Pokhara and Janakpur with athletes from seven South Asian countries competing for glory in 26 different disciplines.
Mostafa Kamal won silver medal in men’s Under-55 kg weight category while Maunzera Borna won silver in the same category for women.
A total of 462 athletes, 263 male and 199 female, are participating from Bangladesh in all but triathlon discipline.
