Youth shot dead in Rangamati

A youth was shot dead at Baradam Bazar in Mogban union of Rangamati on Sunday.

The victim was identified as Kamal Bikash Chakma,38.

Local people said around noon a group of armed assailants came to Baradam Bazar on a speed boat looked for Kamal Bikash.

Finding him they shot at him indiscriminately and he died on the spot, local people said.

Confirming Bikram’s death, the assailants fled away by the same speed boat, they said.

Rangamati sadar police sub-inspector Sagar Barua said Kamal Bikash Chakma, a wood trader, was returning from Citmaram Buddhist monastery with his family.

He stopped at Boradam Bazar to buy fish, sending his family home. He was waiting inside a house where the assailants shot him to death, he added.

Police took the body from the spot and sent it to Rangamati General Hospital for autopsy.

Identities of the assailants were yet to be known.
