Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation celebrated its founding anniversary organising a day-long programme at Bangladesh Shilpkala Academy on Friday.
The celebration programme featured a seminar, discussion, cultural show, procession and others.
A seminar titled ‘Abokkhoyer Biruddhey Sangskriti’ was held at the seminar room of the academy where Professor Abdus Selim delivered a keynote speech on the topic ‘Group Theatre Charcha O Agamir Theatre’.
Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation chairman Liaquat Ali Lucky, thespian Enamul Haque, thespian Nasiruddin Yousuff Bachchu, BGTF assistant secretary general Chandan Reza and others were present at the seminar.
A cultural programme was held at Nandan Mancha of the academy at 3:00pm.
Following which, a discussion was held at the venue. State minister for cultural affairs KM Khalid was present as the chief guest at the programme, presided over by Liaquat Ali Lucky.
BGTF secretary general Kamal Bayezid gave the welcome speech at the discussion.
‘BGTF is one of the biggest theatre organisations of our country. A total 307 theatre troupes from across the country have enlisted with the BGTF and 100 theatre troupes have applied for membership,’ Kamal Bayezid told New Age.
‘We want to create a humanitarian society. Theatre plays a vital role in raising awareness against extremism, religious bigotry and social anomalies,’ added Bayezid.
Following the discussion, BGTF brought out a colourful procession from Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation was founded on 29 November 1980 in Dhaka. The organisation has been working effortlessly to promote theatre activities across the country.
