Three troupes staged plays at Liberation War Museum on the seventh day of ‘Bottala Rangomela 2019’, an international theatre festival organised by theatre troupe Bottala, on Friday.
Padatik Natya Sangsad (TSC) staged William Shakespeare’s tragedy ‘Macbeth’ at the Main Hall of the museum while two children’s theatre troupes namely Barishal-based theatre troupe Shabdaboli and Chattogram-based Fulki Theatre respectively staged ‘Our Kingdom’ and ‘Puthi Pora Pakhi Pora’ at second floor of the museum at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
‘Macbeth’ had been translated by late eminent poet-playwright Syed Shamsul Haq and directed by Sudip Chakraborty. The play revolves around a Scottish general named Macbeth and depicts how political ambition takes its toll on those who seek power for its own sake.
Shakhawat Hossain Shimul, Shamsi Sayeka, Moshiur Rahman, Mohiuddin Jewel, Sanjib Kumar, Sharif and others acted in the play.
‘Our Kingdom’ has been written and directed by Shamima Shawket Lovely and ‘Puthi Pora Pakhi Pora’ has been written by Abul Momen and directed by Aabir Mandal.
Sorbonam band, entertained the audience presenting songs on Liberation War Museum premises.
Besides, Bottala honoured Chattogram-based theatre activist Milon Chowdhury for her contribution to theatre scene.
The festival will end on November 26.
