‘Bhager Manush’, ‘Dhaboman’ staged on fourth day

Theatre troupe Somoy Natyadal and Dhaka Theatre entertained the audience staging their plays at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on the fourth day of IDLC Natya Utsab 2019 on Friday. 

Somoy Natyadal staged its 26th production Bhager Manush at 5:00pm at Experimental Theatre Hall.

The play, directed by Aly Zaker, is an adaptation of an Urdu story ‘Toba Tek Singh’, which depicts the partition of India. It has been adapted by Mannan Hira.

The play portrays how the partition of India impacted people’s lives.

Pavel Islam, Riaz Mahmud Jewel, Akteruzzaman, Fakhrul Islam Mithu, Sonia, Rinku and Moushumi, among others, acted in the play.

Dhaka Theatre staged Dhaboman at 7:00pm at National Theatre Hall.

The play, written by late legendary playwright Selim Al Deen and directed by thespian Shimul Yousuf, depicted the life of Bangalees and Garo community living on the bank of Someshwari River at Birishiri-Durgapur area in Netrokona.

The play features a buffalo cub named Sohrab as its protagonist. Buffaloes are considered to be a manifestation of the divine in the Mandi culture.

Through the eyes of the buffalo cub, the play deals with issues like ethics, morality and love.

Shimul Yousuf, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Nasrin Nahar, Chandan Chowdhury, Rosy Siddiquee and others acted in the play.
