Dancers dance to timeless songs

Dancers of Spandan paid tribute to the troupe’s late patron Keshabendra Roy Chowdhury a programme at Music and Dance center of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Monday.

Keshabendra Roy Chowdhury, an entrepreneur, passed away on October 27.

Artistes presented dance recitals synchronised with timeless songs penned by national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore and others.

Dancers danced to Tagore songs Tumi robe nirobe, Phule phule dole dole and Chitto jetha bhayshunyo and  Nazrul songs Sandhya malati jobe phulobone jhure, Phuler jalsay nirab keno, Mamo madhur minati suno and others.

Kasturi Mukharjee, Anik Bose, Shahidul Islam, Smita Dey, Moon Moon Biswas, Tofayel Ahmed, Subrata Kumar Das, Onidrila Chakravarty, Antu Majumder and others artistes of Spandan performed at the programme.

The performances were choreographed and directed by Anik Bose.

Besides, guests observed a minute silence in remembrance of Keshabendra Roy Chowdhury.

Popular magician Jewel Aich, singers Tapan Chowdhury, Ferdous Ara, Anima Mukti Gomez, Tanzina Tama, Arpita Roy Chowdhury and others attended the programme.

‘My father was a kind hearted person. He always tried to help people. I want to thank everyone for coming here today. I also thank Spandan for organising this programme,’ said Arpita Roy Chowdhury, daughter of Keshabendra Roy Chowdhury.
