Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University observed World Physiatry Day 2019 on Sunday through different programmes.
The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department organised the programmes, including procession and discussion on the campus marking
the day, said a press release.
The events, with the theme ‘Team Physiatry’, started with colourful procession in the morning followed by scientific session, open discussion and cultural programme.
Discussants from different institutions highlighted the importance of medical rehabilitation services in Bangladesh and sought attention of the government and the administrations for their support.
University’s vice-chancellor Kanak Kanti Barua was present as a chief guest at the discussion presided over by Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department chairman professor Taslim Uddin.
Pro-vice-chancellor (research and development) professor Shahidullah Sikder and pro-vice-chancellor (administration) professor Mohammad
Rafiqul Alam attended as special guests while proctor Syed Mozaffor Ahmed was the keynote speaker of the programme, said the release.
