Bangladesh U-19 boys seal Sri Lanka one-day series

Towhid Hridoy struck his second successive hundred to help Bangladesh Under-19 team secure a five-wicket victory over their Sri Lankan counterparts in the fourth youth one-day international match to seal the five-match series 3-0 in Chattogram on Sunday.

Hridoy struck 115 off 120 balls, his fourth ton in youth ODIs, while skipper Akbar Ali made an unbeaten 66 off 60 balls as Bangladesh reached 265-6 in 47.2 overs after restricting the visitors to 260-7 in their stipulated overs.

Chasing a competitive target, Bangladesh were reduced to 69-3 in the 12th over before Hridoy and Shahadat Hossain (23) added 62 runs for the fourth wicket to consolidate the innings.

Kavindu Nadeeshan removed Shahadat but Hridoy carried on and put 110 runs with Akbar for the fifth wicket to take Bangladesh close to victory.

Hridoy, who hit nine fours and three sixes, was dismissed by Navod Paranavithana in the 44th over but Akbar and

Shamim Hossain (11 not out) ensured the win for the hosts.

Earlier, Sri Lanka posted a modest total with Gamage Dinusha top-scoring with an unbeaten 43 while Abhishek Kahaduwaarachchi and Mohammad Samaaz made 37 and 34 runs respectively.

Pacer Tanzim Hasan claimed 3-54 while Shamim Hossain and Rakibul Hasan took one wicket each for he hosts. Bangladesh earlier beat Sri Lanka by five wickets and 161 runs in second and third match respectively after the first match of the series was washed out under the influence of Cyclone Bulbul.

The fifth match of the series will take place on Tuesday at the same venue.
