On November 16, students of University of Rajshahi held a protest at the campus demanding punishment of the assaulters of Sohrab Mia, a third year student of the department of finance and banking.

On November 15, Chittagong Shilpakala Academy arranged children’s cultural performances to celebrate Nabanna Utshab 1426 BS.

On November 14, Bangladesh Student Union’s University of Dhaka unit held its 33th council at Aparajeyo Bangla of the university.  

On November 10, Bangladesh Garo Chhatra Sangathan’s Dhaka unit arranged its 30th founding anniversary at Nokmandi Community Centre, Dhaka.

JNU student protest against fee hike

On November 13, 2019, authorities of Jawaharlal Nehru University, India have ‘partially’ taken back their decision of hiking the fees for residential halls on the face of cumulative protests.

Thousands of students have been protesting at the decision of raising the halls fees by 150 per cent for over two weeks now and the protests are still going on.

Officials of the university have defended the price hike to the local media and termed it ‘too subsidised’.

On November 11, thousands of students gathered in front of an auditorium while a guardian ceremony was taking place in Delhi. Police used water cannons on them when they broke through the barricade and marched forward.

One of the protesters told BBC, ‘The protests will continue until our demands are met. We are not taking this stand because we are stubborn but because there are many students here who cannot afford to pay this fee.’
