Rob-led JSD faces crisis

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal led by ASM Abdur Rob is facing organisational ahead of the party’s national conference scheduled for December 28.

The party’s general secretary Abdul Malek Ratan and some others central leader remained absent at a meeting of the conference preparatory committee held at the party’s central office on Bangabandhu Avenue on Wednesday.

Mohammad Siraj Miah, joint-convener of the conference preparatory committee who chaired the meeting, said that some central leaders were opposing party’s central conference scheduled for December 28.

He called on the eight ‘rebel’ leaders, who gave a statement on Tuesday, to refrain from such anti-party activities and join the conference.

The rebel eight central leaders in a statement said the scheduled conference was not valid as in the last council secession of the party was held in 2016, where party constitution was approved by the party councillors.

They announced to hold a separate national convention on January 11 in Dhaka.

Abdul Malek Ratan, senior vice-president MA Gofran,  senior joint-secretary Ataul Karim Faroque, joint- secretary Abdul Khaleque, organising secretary Zia Khandaker, central leaders Delwar Hossain, Mosharraf Hossain and Jahangir Alam signed the statement.
