A section of students of the Pabna University of Science and Technology continued their agitation on the campus on Monday demanding removal of vice-chancellor M Rostom Ali.

They brought out a procession and held a rally boycotting classes and examinations to demanding removal of the vice-chancellor, the proctor and the student adviser for their reported corruption in recruitment of an official.

Meanwhile, a section of teachers and a small group of students formed a human chain demanding regular classes and examinations.

They said that the authorities should take necessary steps to ensure academic environment on the campus.

Addressing the human chain a teacher said classes and examinations were badly hampered due to the student agitations and this should not continue.

Earlier on October 28, students took to the streets to press their 12-point demand after three teachers were served show cause notices for their Facebook comments over a leaked audio conversation which went viral on social media on October 24.

In the audio clip, jobseeker Monirul Islam was heard asking the vice-chancellor to return him Tk 8 lakh which he gave the VC as bribe to get a job.

Protesters claimed that the VC in the audio clip was M Rostom Ali. The vice-chancellor, however, brushed off the allegations and claimed that the matter was just a conspiracy against him.
