Rajshahi University Journalist Association on Saturday celebrated its golden jubilee on the campus amid festivity.
The association began the day with a colourful morning procession parading different campus streets.
A discussion marking the day was held at 11:00am at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Senate Building.
The Daily Observer editor and the prime minister’s former information adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury as the chief guest said that the journalists must do their duties freely holding themselves accountable to the nation. He urged the attending students to prepare themselves to serve the country.
Rajshahi University vice-chancellor M Abdus Sobhan, North South University vice-chancellor professor Atiqul Islam, the association’s founding president Hamiduzzaman Robi and founding general secretary Muhammad Nazrul Islam addressed the programme presided by the association’s former president, playwright and marketing professor Maloy Kumar Bhowmick.
The celebration programmes concluded with a cultural event.
