A Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court on Wednesday granted police to interrogate engineering student Abrar Fahad murder suspect Mizanur Rahman in custody for five days.
Abrar, a 2nd-year student of electrical and electronic engineering, was tortured to death at Sher-e-Bangla Hall of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology on
Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Baki Billah passed the order. Mizanur, a third-year student of water resources enginee-ring, was roommate of Abrar.
Detective Branch of Police investigation officer Wahiduzzaman produced him before the court and was granted to interrogate him. Mizan was held on October 10.
Police so far arrested 20 accused students linked to Abrar murder, including 15 of the 19 listed accused in the first information report.
Abrar was killed reportedly for his critical views on social media over the recently signed deals between Bangladesh and India. His death triggered nationwide protest.
Following the murder, BUET students went out on fierce demonstration to press for their 10-point demands.
The protesting students said they would continue their boycott of classes and examinations until the charge sheet on the killing of Abrar was submitted and those involved in the killing were permanently expelled from the university.
