Bangladesh women’s national cricket team on Tuesday left for Pakistan to play three Twenty20 and two one-day international matches against their Pakistani counterparts, scheduled to start in Lahore on October 26.
The series suffered an unexpected jolt on Monday when all national and first-class cricketers announced a boycott from all cricketing activities to press home their 11-point demand and asked their female colleagues to join the protest.
However, the women’s team seemed to be reluctant to join the movement and left Dhaka at 7:00pm by a Qatar Airways flight.
The Twenty20 international matches will be held on October 26, 28 and 30 respectively while the two ODI matches will take place on November 2 and 4 respectively.
All the matches of the series will take place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Meanwhile, the first one-day match of Bangladesh women’s emerging team against their Indian counterparts in the ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup was washed out due to rain in Colombo on Tuesday.
Bangladesh team will take on Pakistan in their second match of the tournament today.
