I-League outfit Sree Gokulam Kerala FC shocked Bangladesh Premier League champions Bashundhara Kings by 1-3 goals in their Group B opener of the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup football at the MA Aziz Stadium in Chattogram on Tuesday.
In the day’s other Group B match at the same venue, Brazilian forward Bruno Suzuki Castanheira scored a quadruple for Malaysia Super League outfit Terengganu FC’s 5-3 win over another I-League outfit Chennai City FC.
For Gokulam their Ugandian forward Henry Kisekka scored a brace in the 25 and 46th minutes while Trinidad and Tobago midfielder Nathaniel Jude Garcia added another one in the 31st minute.
Midfielder Motin Mia scored a consolation goal for Kings in the 72nd minute when his fierce drive found the back of the net.
Terengganu player Suzuki earlier ruled the opening match with his four goals while midfielder Rahmat Bin Makasuf added the other goal for the Malaysian outfit.
Japanese midfielder Katsumi Yusa, forward Mashoor Shereef Thangalakath and Uruguayan-Spanish forward Pedro Manzi scored one goal each for Chennai.
Makasuf put Terengganu ahead in the fourth minute before Yusa levelled the margin for Chennai in the 24th minute.
Chennai went ahead in the 33rd minute with a Mashoor Shereef strike.
Suzuki made it 2-2 in the 39th minutes by heading the ball home following a cross from Uzbek midfielder Sanjar Shaakmedov before scoring his second in the stoppage time of the first half.
The 29-year-old Suzuki completed his treble in the 70th minute with a fine finish before scoring his fourth in the 82nd minute from a close range shot.
Chennai reduced the gap in the 89th minute when captain Pedro Manzi, a Spanish striker, converted a penalty after Terengganu defender Serhii Adrieiev committed a handball inside the box.
