District Shilpakala Academy arranged a musical programme titled ‘Shrotar Asar – Baithaki’ at the academy’s painting room, where Ekushey Padak awarded legendary singer Sushama Das and prominent senior vocalist of the Sylhet region, Himangshu Biswas, enthralled the audience with their presentations.
The event started with a welcome speech by the District cultural officer Asit Baran Dasgupta. An event like this has been launched for first time by the District Shilpakala Academy. Asit Baran Dasgupta said, ‘The ‘Shrotar Asar – Baithaki’ will continue as a quarterly (three-monthly) programme from now on.’
Renowned song-bard Sushama Das and Himangshu Biswas presented popular folksongs of the last decades one after another following requests made by the audiences of the programme too.
The duo also reminisced moments of their carriers in between the presentations with the fans and music lovers in the programme.
‘I enjoyed the programme a lot. I am grateful to the District Shilpakala Academy for giving us an opportunity to enjoy such a musical show,’ said Litan, an audience to New Age.
The programme ended by handing out souvenirs, to the invited artistes Sushama Das and Himangshu Biswas by the organisers.
