A mobile court led by Rapid Action Battalion executive magistrate Sarwoer Alam on Monday seized 232 hides of various wild animals including leopard and fishing cat from a shop at Paribagh in the capital.

The mobile court also seized 55 products made with the animal hides from the shop, Crafts Corner, at the DIT Supermarket and sentenced two owners of the shop to one-year imprisonment for breaching the Wildlife Conservation Act.

There were hides of one leopard, one fishing cat, two monkeys, 227 monitor lizards and a wild cat while the products include money bags and bags made with snake hide and with deer hide, said the executive magistrate.

He said that his court also fined the shop owners Tk 50,000 each and, in default, to suffer one more month in jail.

He said that the two owners were siblings.
