The committee on public undertakings in its sixth meeting held at Jatiya Sangsada Bhaban on Sunday expressed concern over the reported irregularities and corruption in Dhaka WASA.
The committee members in presence of local government division secretary Helaluddin and Dhaka WASA managing director Taqsem A Khan discussed audit report of the agency, Anti-Corruption Commission’s report, Transparency International Bangladesh’s report and newspaper reports on corruption and irregularities of its water supply and waterlogging mitigation projects.
The committee chairman ASM Feroz told New Age that the committee recommended the ministry and the agency for taking measures to stop corruption at any coast.
‘We asked the agency to place all audit reports and also suggested it to stop monopoly of its managing director enhances irregularities in the agency,’ Feroz said.
Committee members Ismat Ara Sadeq, M Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif, Mohammad Nazrul Islam and Muhibur Rahman Manik were present at the meeting.
