Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Monday complained that the election commission had become the government’s magic box as the commission had been holding ‘day’s election at night’ and showing ‘alive people dead in the voter list.’

Addressing a press conference at the party’s central office at Naya Paltan in the capital in the afternoon, BNP senior joint secretary general alleged that polling agents of BNP candidates were forced out of poling centres during Maheshpur upazila election in Jhenaidah and Satkania upazila election in Chattogram.

He alleged that though the election began in the morning, voters were not allowed to enter the poling centres.

Awami League activists brandishing sticks and knives took positions in intersections of the polling areas, he added.

Rizvi alleged that the police also joined their hands with the AL activists to oust the voters and rigging the election.

He alleged local administration maintained silence even after they were informed about the situation.

‘Actually, fair election cannot be expected from those who held the December 30, 2018 national election at the night following December 29, 2018. The Election commission has turned into the government’s magic box. They hold day’s election at night and show alive people dead in the voter list,’ he alleged.

Terming the chief election commissioner as a ‘magician’, he alleged that the voters had no right to vote under this election commission.
