Bangladeshi film actress and director Kohinur Akter Suchanda and cine journalist Rafi Hossain have been named winners of prestigious Fazlul Haque Memorial Award 2019.
The awards will be conferred at a programme scheduled to be held on the last week of November, said a press release.
Fazlul Haque was the editor of the first cine magazine of the country, Cinema, which he published in 1950 from Bogura, his birth place.
Haque also directed a film for children titled ‘President’, where his son Faridur Reza Sagar, the managing director of Channel-i, had acted as a child artiste.
Fazlul Haque’s widow Rabeya Khatun introduced Fazlul Haque Memorial Award in 2004.
Since then Fazlul Haque Smrity Committee has been conferring the award every year on a filmmaker and a cine journalist for their contributions to filmmaking and cine journalism.
Previous winners of the award include eminent directors and cine journalists like Subhash Dutta, Fazal Shahabuddin, Syed Salauddin Zaki, Arefin Badal, Sohel Rana, Shahidul Haque Khan, Mostofa
Sarwar Farooki, Shafiuzzaman Khan Lodi, Abdul Latif Bachchu, Naresh Bhuiyan and others.
