The two-day eleventh artisan festival ended at Ashwini Kumar Hall in Barishal city recently.

The festival featured a photography exhibition portraying the pottery making process, painting competition for children, discussion, cultural show and more.

It was organised by Mritshilpi Sammilon O Sammanana Uddyog.

Besides, cultural affairs ministry, Mangal Shobhajatra Research and Expansion Centre, Charukala Barishal, Summit Group, Berger Paints and Amrita Food Products supported the programme.

The closing ceremony of the festival was presided over by Dipankar Chakrabarty, former president of Charukala Barishal.

Among others, dean of Dhaka University fine arts faculty Nisar Hossain, vice chancellor of Sheikh Hasina University  Dr Rafiqullah Khan, artist Rafiqunnabi and deputy commissioner of Barishal S M Ajiar Rahman were present as special guests.

More than 160 potters and clay artisans from different regions like Kalaskati, Bakerganj, Baufal, Barishal, Mymenshing, Tangail, Naogaon, Shariatpur, Faridpur and Rajshahi participated in the event. A total of 14 artisans were honoured in 10 categories.

Dhirendra Nath Pal from Muktagacha, Mymensingh received Balohari Shaha Memorial Award and Usha Rani Pal from Maheshpur, Barishal, received Chitta Haldar Lifetime Award, among others.
