Acclaimed music director Alauddin Ali was flown to Bangkok for better treatment on Sunday morning.
He has been suffering from pneumonia, lung infection and cancer along with other age-related health problems.
When contacted, Alauddin Ali’s daughter Alif Alauddin said, ‘My father has reached Bangkok safely. He is now staying at a hotel and will be admitted to a hospital on Monday. I urge my father’s fans and well-wishers to pray for his wellbeing. He was undergoing treatment at Universal Medical College & Hospital Ltd.’
Earlier, Alauddin Ali went to Bangkok for treatment in 2015 where he was diagnosed with cancer. However, the doctors decided not to remove the tumour in his lung as it was very close to the heart and gave him chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Alauddin Ali’s condition deteriorated again in January this year. He was admitted at a private hospital in Mohakhali, Dhaka at around 11:30pm on January 22 with respiratory illness. He was later shifted to the intensive care unit of the hospital. He was discharged from the hospital after four months.
One of the leading music directors of the country, Alauddin Ali has directed music for more than 300 films.
He bagged Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Music Director five times for the films Golapi Ekhon Traine (1978), Sundori (1979), Koshai (1980), Jogajog (1988) and Lakhe Ekta (1990). He won the Best Music Composer and Best Lyrics awards for the films Laal Doriya (2002) and Premik (1985) respectively.
