No buses left Khulna for Gopalganj, Barishal, and Madaripur since Friday morning as the Rupsa-Bagerhat Bus Minibus Owners’ Association started enforcing an indefinite strike.
Thousands of passengers on Khulna to Gopalganj, Barishal, Madaripur and Muksudpur routes suffered for lack of transportation.
Khan Kamruzzaman, a member of the association, said they faced losses as some influential transport leaders had permitted illegal buses to ply on these routes.
The association’s president Md Nurul Haque Lipon said, ‘We’ve suspended buses and minibuses on the four routes to protest against the illegal plying of buses. We’ll continue the strike until it stops.’
