A-month long exhibition marking the 73rd birthday of prime minister Sheikh Hasina is going to commence today at National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The show has been jointly organised by the cultural affairs ministry and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The announcement was made at a press conference held at the Seminar Room of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Thursday.
BSA director general Liaquat Ali Lucky, BSA secretary Badrul Alam Bhuiyan, director of BSA Prashant Kumar Pal and others were present at the press conference.
The exhibition titled ‘Sheikh Hasina Bangladesh-er Shopnosharathi’ will feature photographs, paintings and installations based on Sheikh Hasina’s life and works.
‘The exhibition will portray the journey, struggles and political career of prime minister Sheikh Hasina. The exhibition will feature 231 photographs,133 pantings and others. The exhibition will be held at the gallaries 1, 2 and 6 until October 26,’ said director general of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky.
About 100 paintings have been painted at an art camp organised by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Artists like Abdul Rab Khan, Titas Chakma, Jayant Sarkar Jan, Syeda Tamanna Afroz, Shivali Howlader, Shrikant Roy Subir, Surbhi Akhter, Shuvra Talukder and others participated in the camp.
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina, the eldest daughter of the country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was born at Tungipara in Gopalganj on September 28, 1947.
Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will be present as the chief guest, while state minister for cultural affairs KM Khalid, national professor Anisuzzaman and others will be present as special guests at the inaugural ceremony. The academy’s secretary Badrul Anam Bhuiyan will give the welcome speech.
Liaquat Ali Lucky will preside over the inaugural ceremony.
