A Dhaka court on Monday issued a temporary injunction on the activities of the new committee of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal.
Judge Nusrat Jahan Bithi of the Fourth Assistant Judge’s Court of Dhaka passed the order after Aman Ullah Aman, a former assistant religious affairs secretary of JCD, filed a petition seeking a temporary injunction on the activities of the newly-elected central committee of JCD.
The court asked the newly formed JCD committee to explain in seven days as to why a permanent injunction should not be imposed on their functions.
The court also asked Fazlur Rahman Khokan and Iqbal Hossain Shyamal, who are now the elected president and general secretary of JCD respectively, to appear before the court and respond to a show cause notice within next seven days.
Earlier, on September 12, 2019, Aman Ullah Aman filed a case seeking a permanent injunction on holding the council of JCD central committee.
JCD’s former committee was formed on October 14, 2014 with Rajib Ahsan as president and Akramul Hasan as general secretary, and it was dissolved on June 3.
