Workers Party of Bangladesh president Rashed Khan Menon on Saturday said that the political parties should stop influencing their student bodies.

The student bodies should be independent and should have their own committees elected by activists of the respective organisations, without any influence of the patron political parties.

He was speaking at a discussion commemorating Bangladesh Chhatra Moitree leader Jubair Ahmed Rimu, who was killed at Rajshahi University campus in 1993.

The discussion was arranged in front of the party’s central office at Topkhana Road.

Bringing some changes in the top leadership of a student organisation would not bring any result to free the organisation from irregularities. The organisations must be free from all sorts of influences of the patron political party, Menon said.

Chaired by Bangladesh Chhatra Moitree president Faroque Ahmed, its general secretary Kazi Abdul Motaleb Jewel and others took part at discussion.
