Ruling Awmai League general secretary Obaidul Quader said Wednesday that 12 committees had been formed as part of the preparations to hold the party’s 21th national council session slated for December 20 and 21.
Quader said it at a press conference at the AL president’s Dhanmondi office where the y secretaries of the party met earlier.
He said that the council session would kick off at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on December 20 and end on December 21.
On the first day it would be an open session but on the concluding day it would be a closed door seesion.
From September 21, the party would hold extended meetings at district towns and divisional cities as part of the preparations to hold the national council session.
Quader said that the organizing secretaries had been asked to replace old committees at lower organizational levels with new committees.
Replying a question, Quader said that AL was committed to take action against party men and women involved with unethical activities.
He said that the Anti-Corruption Commission was under instructions to take action against any AL leader and activist involved in corruption.
Visibly annoyed over a question about ousted Chhatra League president and general secretary, Quader said he would make comment on the issue as prime minister and AL president Sheikh Hasina herself ‘handles the matter’.
Also present at the news conference were AL joint general secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Jahangir Kabir Nanok and Abdur Rahman and organizing secretaries AFM Bahauddin Nasim, AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury.
