Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday alleged that the children of the country were deprived of their rights and falling victims of inhuman torture.

He said this while addressing the inaugural session of Shaplaknuri 2019, the 11th national competition of child artists, organised by Zia Shishu Academy at the Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh in the capital.

The BNP leader said that BNP founder Ziaur Rahman built Shishu Academy and dreamt that the children would present the world a new Bangladesh through proper education and spirited with patriotism.

‘But, children of the country are now deprived of rights and confined in bad education and culture as they are now becoming victims of inhuman torture…It is a big challenge for building future Bangladesh,’ he said.

He said the society was now unable to love the children and build a good future for them. ‘We could not build a safe society for them. Uncertainty, instability, fear and anxiety prevail all around.’

Fakhrul said that the dreams of the freedom fighters had broken in Bangladesh.

‘Freedom fighters wanted to build a society safe for all. But our dreams were not fulfilled. We are yet to build a safe homeland though a huge number of roads and buildings were built,’ Fakhrul said.

The academy director general M Humayun Kabir chaired the session.
