Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday greeted archer Ruman Shana at her residence in Ganabhaban following his Asia Cup gold medal winning feat.
State minister for youth and sports Zahid Ahsan Russell, who accompanied Shana at Ganabhaban, said the prime minister greeted him with sweets and wanted to know if he needed any help.
Shana sought her assistance for the treatment of his ailing mother and the PM agreed immediately, said the state minister.
‘The PM also suggested some hospitals name in Dhaka for the treatment of his mother,’ said the state minister.
Shana was elated after the meeting.
‘She cordially welcomed me and promised me to bear all the expenses of my mother. I could not explain my happiness in words,’ Shana said.
Shana defeated Shi Zhenqi of China by 7-3 set points to take the recurve men’s gold at the third leg of 2019 Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament in the Philippines on September 13.
His gold medal winning feat coincided with Bangladesh’s cricket win against lowly Zimbabwe.
