The investigation committed of Pabna district administration has found ‘credible evidences’ that a rape victim was forcibly married to one of the rapists at Pabna sadar police station recently.
Additional district magistrate Zahid Newaz submitted the report to deputy commissioner Kabir Mahmud on Sunday.
The DC formed the probe committee under the direction of the Cabinet division in connection with the rape and marriage of the victim following media reports.
After receiving the report, deputy commissioner Kabir Mahmud told reporters that a team comprising three members submitted a report after visiting the scene, talking to the family of the victim and local people.
He said that he would send the report to the Cabinet Division shortly.
On August 29 night, the accused together with his accomplices abducted a woman, who is mother of three children, and raped her for four days keeping her in confinement.
The victim managed to escape and went to Pabna sadar police station to lodge a complaint. But the police officers did not record her allegations, rather compelled her to divorce her husband and marry the rape suspect.
On September 9, the woman succeeded in filing a case against the accused after the police actions and rape incidents drew massive public criticism.
On Thursday, Pabna sadar police station officer-in-charge Obaidul Haque was withdrawn and attached to the police lines and sub-inspector Ekramul Haque was suspended after his involvement in the offences were primarily found true.
Police arrested all four of the accused and a court them to judicial custody.
