Theatre troupe Batikrom Natya Goshti honoured thespian and former cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor with Syed Mohidul Islam Padak on Sunday at a programme held at National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The award was conferred on the second day of five-day Syed Mohidul Islam Smaran Utsab 2019, which has been organised by Batikrom marking the 17th death anniversary of playwright, director and actor Syed Mohidul Islam and 43rd founding anniv of the troupe.
The festival commenced at National Theatre Hall of BSA on Saturday.
Sammilita Sangskritik Jote president Ghulam Quddus, thespians Jhuna Chowdhury and Lucky Enam, among others, were present as special guests at the event.
Lucky Enam handed over a crest and a cheque of Tk 10,000 to Asaduzzaman Noor at the programme.
Besides, Indian troupe Anami Theatre Centre staged Ar Ekti Premer Galpa at the venue.
The play, written by Shekhanna Samaddaer and directed by Proloy Bhattachariya, revolves around a physically disabled adolescent boy named Shankha and his struggles.
Theatre Art Unit staged Sutay Sutay Hannah O Shapla on Monday and Batikrom Nattya Gosti will stage Takshak today at the festival.
The event will end tomorrow.
