Road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday said no-one would be spared if found involved in irregularities as the government had adopted a zero tolerance policy against it.
‘For the first time in the country, organisational action has been taken against president and general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League for breaching the party discipline and there's no such instance in any political party,’ he said while visiting Bhulta Flyover work at Rupganj in Narayanganj.
Punitive action has been taken against the BCL leaders and they were forced to resign from their respective posts, he said adding, ‘prime minister Sheikh Hasina herself was monitoring the current situation and BCL activities.’
Talking about the Bhulta Flyover, the Awami League leader said the four-lane flyover had been built at a cost of Tk 375 crore and the authorities concerned opened it for traffic without any formal inauguration though prime minister Sheikh Hasina would inaugurate it through a videoconference later.
Superintendent of Narayanganj police Harun-or-Rashid and upazila nirbahi officer Mamtaz Begum Hasan were present at the programme.
