Fourteen crew members of a container- laden cargo ship ‘MV Gulf Argo’ capsized near Payra fairway buoy in the Bay of Bengal were rescued alive.
The ship, carrying 152 containers, capsized as its engine went out of order on Thursday at the place while going to India from Chittagong Port, said an Inter-Services Public Relations press release in Dhaka on Friday.
Patrolling ship ‘Sangu’ rushed to the spot immediately and searching the crews. Later, the rescuer team pulled out all the crews alive.
The rescued crews are captain Kazi Abdullah Al Muhit, 35, chief engineer Hasan Reza Khalid, 32, chief officer Kazi Mahmub Alam, 28, second engineer Nur Alam Himel, 26, third master Mojammel Hossain, 24, Bosun mate Rafuk Ullah, 59, able seaman M Zubayer Hossain, 24,
ordinary seaman Sujan Mukerjee, 20, ordinary seaman M Sahabuddin, 21, Shahdat Hossain, 37,
Zamirul Islam, 30, Shaheed Mia, 23, M Raju, 25, and Abdur Rashid, 50.
