A Dhaka court on Thursday granted bail to two RAJUK officials in the Banani fire incident case.

Metropolitan judge KM Imrul Kayes granted the bail for Mahbub Hossain, RAJUK inspection officer, and Nazrul Islam, assistant authorisation officer.

Advocate Qamrul Islam prayed for the bail petition while Anti-Corruption Commission public prosecutor Mosharraf Kajal stood for the state.

On March 28, 2019, at least 19 people, including a Sri Lankan national, died and over 100 were injured as the 23-storey FR Tower at Banani in Dhaka caught fire.

Later, RAJUK’s probe committee identified 32 officials, including the then chairman, member, town planner and chief engineer, for helping the developers expanding the building illegally.
