Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Monday launched the Citizen Information Management System mobile app to collect information of city dwellers, including both the house owners and tenants.
DMP commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia formally inaugurated the app at the DMP media centre here. Speaking on the occasion, Asaduzzaman said anyone could download the app on handsets from Google play store and register his or her information in the system.
In addition, he said, other programmes to collect information of the city dwellers manually would continue.
‘At present, the CIMS app can be downloaded from the Google Play store on Android phones. But the app will be available on Apple Store soon,’ the DMP chief said.
He said the CIMS was launched in 2016 aiming to collect, preserve and manage the data of city dwellers and information of more than 72 lakh people has so far been recorded in system.
Since the data of city dwellers was preserved in the system, Asaduzzaman said, the capacity of DMP in conducting probes into cases has significantly increased.
He said the owners now could not rent their houses to tenants without filling up tenant’s forum.
