Four land officials of Shahjadpur upazila in Sirajganj, including the sub-registrar, were suspended after a probe found that they took bribes from service takers.
Sirajganj district land office authorities initiated an investigation against the sub-registrar, Subrata Kumar Das, and other land officials of Shahjadpur upazila after a video showing the officials taking bribes from land service takers went viral in social media recently.
Sub-registrar Subrata and copyist Sumon Ahmed were seen in the video taking bribes from land sellers and buyers at the upazila land office, which was posted on Facebook by Shahjadpur upazila unit president of Muktijoddha Santan Command member Sohel Rana.
District registrar Abul Kalam Monjurul Islam told New Age that their investigation was complete and the report was sent to the ministry.
Based on the investigation, Subrata, clerk Abdus Salam, copyist Sumon and daily-basis office assistant Anisur Rahman were suspended, he said.
Besides, departmental action was under process, Monjurul said.
